The baroque stone figure dates from 1724 and represents the Bohemian bridge saint St. Nepomuk. This was donated by Tagliasacchi. Statues of Nepomuk are usually placed on or near bridges in reference to his martyrdom after falling from a bridge over the Vltava. Supposedly a Madonna stood opposite until 1824, when a flood swept both figures away. If you go back over the bridge to the old town, you will see a flood mark from 1542 on the Alb side of the first house on the left. It says that after several days of heavy rain in August, the water was as high as the horizontal line shows.
