This is one of the rock objects on the Sun Path (archaeoastronomical research project "Gods Hand" of the Archaeoastronomy Section of the Sohland Observatory). The task of the project was to search for calendar astronomical solar functions on rock and stone formations in Upper Lusatia and neighboring regions. Over forty objects have been found that have a possible function and are therefore referred to as the sun sanctuaries of Upper Lusatia.
It is rather unlikely that they were actually places of worship. It remains an interesting hiking trail, an innovative touristic idea and a lot of freedom for our imagination. If you want to know more and want to start selling the objects: goetterhand.de. There is also a PDF brochure with pictures of all objects and GPS data. The circular route is not marked, so you don't just start walking. On the German side, there are signposts at least in the vicinity of the objects.
