Leisure pond at the valley exit. We start in Hollfeld at the outdoor pool (hiking map and signpost here), follow the yellow ring markings (also red diamond) on a wide promenade path between the wooded slope and meadow. Numerous benches invite you to take a rest, and while the river meanders between lush meadows, we can enjoy the tranquility of this landscape. Finally we reach the village of Kainach (30 min.) and meet the asphalt road there. We swing to the left, turn right at the fountain in the center of the village (signpost to Wonsees) and immediately follow the yellow dot to the left. Now we hike on a slightly uphill road, while the view sweeps up to Zwernitz Castle in Sanspareil. At a lonely barn we swing to the right and follow the red ring markings. The path leads slightly downhill, past a slope with juniper bushes (NSG) to Schloetzmühle (1 hour 30 minutes).
There we cross the Schwalbach and see numerous juniper bushes on the opposite slope. We walk to a crossroads, turn left (marked with a red ring) and via Taubmanngasse we approach Wonsees, a village first mentioned in 1108, where it is worth taking a break at the Gasthof Zur Krone on the market square (2:30 hours).
From here we follow Hollfelder Straße (marking is a yellow dot), turn right just before leaving the town (there is a public livestock scale on the left) and keep left at the next fork. Between the fields we now hike to the next junction, turn left (marking yellow dot) and hike on the well-known path to Kainach (3 hours).
In the middle of the village we swing to the right (blue dot marking) and follow the meadow path to the left at the volunteer fire brigade. Now we hike back to Hollfeld on the other side of the Kainach (3:30 hours). Variant: From Kainach, turn left at the fountain in the center of the village and follow the blue dot marker on the other side of the Kainach Valley back to Hollfeld (2 km).
