The ensemble of synagogue, schoolhouse and cantor's house has been preserved because in 1934 the Jewish community was already so small that it could no longer maintain the buildings and therefore transferred them to the local history association.

Today the Gröbzig Synagogue Museum is a place of teaching and learning about Jewish history and Jewish life in Anhalt and beyond. The permanent exhibition is currently being revised and will not reopen until 2023 after the cantor's house has been renovated.

At the moment (as of March 2021) it is closed anyway due to Corona. When it is possible to open cultural institutions, the museum will probably also be open for visits on Sundays. A visit is already worthwhile and the dedicated staff will be happy to provide information.

Update November 2024:
On November 25, 2024, the new interactive permanent exhibition was ceremoniously reopened. It provides insights into Jewish life, explains things like dietary rules and rituals, and focuses intensively on former members of the community.

The synagogue is open Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday are currently reserved for school classes and groups.
