Wissem Castle is the landmark of Troisdorf and dates back to the Merovingian period (500-700 AD). It was a moated castle and fortification, the ancestral seat of the Lords of Troisdorf. The first written record of it dates from 1474. The complex comprises elements from three different eras and is surrounded by a spacious castle park that merges into the Wahner Heide heathland. With its sensory experience area, the deer park's enclosures featuring red deer and sika deer, and other recreational activities, the castle park is a popular destination.
