Wissem Castle is Troisdorf's landmark. The history of the formerly free aristocratic farm “Wisheim / Wiesheim / Wyssem / Weißheimb” goes back to the Merovingian period (500-700 AD).
It was a castle and weir system enclosed by moats and ancestral seat of the Lords of Troisdorf (Truhtesdorf). The first written evidence comes from 1474.
