Amberg is one of the few larger cities in which the majority of the city wall that has existed since the Middle Ages can still be seen. At the same time, however, the complete structure of the defensive ring with kennels, city moats and fortress gates has been preserved in most places, while in some places the former walls and towers have been converted into residential buildings. A walk around the old town is therefore very interesting and an absolute tip.
