This 30-meter-long wooden bridge, also known as a beam bridge (sub-category: half-timbered), is called the "Lederersteg." It was designed by Julius Natterer. The bridge has a three-chord girder with a triangular cross-section beneath the hipped roof, from which the bridge deck is suspended.

Between the 14th and 17th centuries, iron was shipped to Regensburg via the Vils. On the way back - the ships were being hauled upriver by horses - there was salt loaded.
