The historic gardens date from the time when the monastery was converted into a landgrave's hunting and summer palace. Under the direction of the Hessian Landgrave Moritz the Learned, the garden underwent two renovations. Once in the years 1606 to 1619 and the second renovation was continued by Landgrave Karl in 1696 to 1699.

Today, visitors can enjoy the garden's various blossoms. Every year you can always see something new here. And in the herb garden you can also discover all sorts of vegetables and herbs, which are also sold in the greenhouse.
