A small park with a water hole, where a bench has a view of the church...

Nice little park in Emael, between the Jeker and the church. There is a pond (in this period with quite sturdy frogs and toads) that is fed by the (muted) fountain of Guizette. The Jeker runs nearby, there are several benches and it's just a nice stop. It used to be a wetland, but it was drained when the course of the Jeker was diverted. Fans of amphibians should definitely take a look. From here you can also go to the church and presbytery, say the old center of the small village.

During the rectification of the course of the Geer (1970-1973) the fountain was filled in as well as the old bed of the river. The recovered area returned to the municipality of Bassenge which installed pastures there. The water coming out of the slick seeped into the basement and turned the environment into a wetland. The municipal administration decided to develop the site to alleviate the negative effect of the Geer recovery on amphibians and aquatic flora. A pond was dug in 1993, the source cleared, plantations and sowing adorned the surroundings. La Guizette benefits from a didactic assignment (amphibian refuge) and relaxation. The pond is fed by water from the fountain, the overflow is discharged into the Geer along the site. "
