The Heyoule nature reserve in Eben-Emael is the oldest protected area on Sint-Pietersberg. It was established in 1973 and was the first part of a network that now includes more than ten nature reserves in the Neder-Geer. A dozen species of orchids live on the sunny slopes of Heyoule.
