The Nijkerkje is a Waterstaat church from 1846. The model of a hall church was changed in 1913 by adding a transverse building. The most striking part is the eastern facade, with a church tower, in fact a square balustrade on which a roof rider with a bells stands. The building has been a municipal monument since 2016.
The name Nijkerkje was also used for the village itself, which illustrates the significance of the church as a central point for the village community.
