As is well known, Greek cities already fought over the honor of being the birthplace of the poet Homer in ancient times.
It's no different in Germany. A number of localities claim that the "well-known sorcerer and black artist" was born within their walls.
Johann Faust was probably born around 1480 or 1481. As uncertain as his year of birth is, so uncertain is his place of birth.
