Although this pond is also very pretty, it is not the former Seifzerteich:
"The construction of the Klotzsch airport also had consequences for Weixdorf. Parts of the village area had to be given up for the necessary runways. In addition, the former Seifzerteich disappeared, of which today only a dam near the Fuchsberg settlement reminds us. This was in the 16th century created as a "Weicksdorffer pond" for fish farming, but was drained again around 1840. The area was last used for agriculture."

According to the map of the Weixdorf circular hiking trail, this pond is a rainwater retention basin.

The origin of the name lies in an old legend in which mermaids play a major role. If you walk past the Rähnitzer Mühlweg, you will hear them sighing in the pond, they say. Because they no longer went to Lausa - a district of Weixdorf - to dance. This is how the name came about.(Source Sächsische Zeitung)
