The farmer's mills
Economic life used to rage in the Baybachtal. Numerous mills were in operation there. They drew their energy from the brook. Each of the communities involved had one or more farm mills in the valley. 32 mills stood from the source in Hausbay to the mouth in castles on the Moselle. You will pass the following mills during your dream loop hike in the Upper Baybach Valley. Many have been lovingly renovated and can hardly be recognized today from the historical photos. It is possible that this site, where the valley opens very wide, has been inhabited since prehistoric times.
We assume that the small stable opposite the mill has existed since around 1730. The rear upper "stall" is newly built. It offers space for a chamber above the former ox stall. In the corner next to the stable and the ledge, we found the remains of an old fireplace during the construction work on the terrace in the 1950s and mid-1970s.
