Both south of the town and here towards Holzminden, 250-year-old oaks adorn the historic forest path, laid out by the Brunswick court forester Johann Georg von Langen. The Lower Saxony State Forests in Solling maintain and supplement the oak avenue, also to connect the oak stands with one another and to network the habitats of specialized inhabitants of old oaks such as the middle spotted woodpecker and stag beetle.
