From the town hall, Schlossstrasse leads to the last remaining city gate, the Schlosstor, which forms a structural unit with the Sendenhof, one of the eight former castle courts. The Schlosstor is designed in the style of a gate tower. The passageway consists of a very strong pointed arch, which was often used by the architects of the 15th century.
This gate is particularly remarkable because it is the only one of its kind that has survived in the surrounding area. There must have been a large number of similar towers in all fortified towns. The Sendenhof adjoins this tower seamlessly. At this point it is clearly visible how closely the castle guards were tied to the defense of the city. On the north side you can still clearly see the connection between the gate and the castle court. On the sides of the street we find strong stone walls. With these the noble castle guards separated themselves from their bourgeois neighbors.
