Hiking Highlight
The ruins of Leckstein, also known as Lägstein, Lechstein or Reckstein, are the ruins of a hilltop castle at 785 m above sea level. NN on a valley slope west of Gauselfingen. The castle was built in the second half of the 12th century. The castle was then abandoned during the first half of the 14th century. Remains of the residential tower and the neck moat are still preserved from the former castle complex on a hillside, which had a core castle with a residential tower (with annex) and a bailey as well as a courtyard, enclosing wall and neck moat.
Very nice little ruin on a small hilltop with a steep descent into the valley.

Anyone who dreads the steep climb from Gauselfingen should start from the Lichtenstein forest car park. From here the path climbs only slightly up to the ruins.

After a steep ascent from Gauselfingen it is there, the Lägstein ruins. Nice reward after the effort.
