Knott Rigg summit

Hiking

4.9

(44)

Knott Rigg is the lower of two Wainwright summits on a glorious ridge above the Newlands Pass, between the Vale of Keswick and Buttermere. The summit feels like it is right in the heart of mountain country, thanks to the way it is nestled between the superb Crag Hill group to the north and the bulk of Robinson to the south.

    Hiking

Knott Rigg is a 1,824-foot (556 m) Wainwright fell in the Lake District National Park. It's often hiked alongside Ard Crags from the carpark by Newlands Hause. The towering fells of Wandope, Crag Hill and Sail overshadow Knott Rigg to the north, as does Robinson to the south. But you get a great sense of being high amongst the fells without needing to put much effort into your ascent (due to the high car park). A great option if you're staying in Buttermere.
