When I photographed this building I could not assign it. But after researching Mirow Castle, it turned out that this is the lower castle.

Not far from the gatehouse, but outside the actual palace island, is the lower palace. This baroque building was erected in 1766 and initially remained unfinished. It replaced a simple, unadorned previous building, which had been built from 1735 to 1737 after the marriage of the so-called "Prince von Mirow" Karl (Ludwig Friedrich), a later-born prince of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, with Elisabeth Albertine von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and in several children of the couple were born, among them Adolf Friedrich IV. and Karl II., later regents of the Strelitz part of the country, as well as (Sophie) Charlotte, who later became Queen of England. No pictorial representations are known of the former birth house of that generation of the Strelitz ducal family.

After Adolf Friedrich IV's accession to the throne, the ducal family moved to Neustrelitz Castle, Strelitz' main residence. The princely court ceased in Mirow, and after 1761 the castles were largely empty. In 1820, a teachers' seminar moved into the Lower Castle, where elementary school teachers for Dominican villages and towns in the Strelitz region were trained for more than a century.

The lower castle, including the courtyard buildings and park right on the water, is for sale

The "Lower Castle" Mirow is located south of the castle island. It was probably built around 1735 and served as a residence for the non-governing Duke of Mecklenburg. Here was u.a. the later English Queen Charlotte born. A building that characterizes the city of Mirow. The city is m. E. Today owner of this building and looks for a buyer.

Harbors a nice cafe with a small selection of cakes and various hot drinks. By the way, there are books and illustrated books about the region on the shelves, in which you can indulge yourself or just to inform. Some of it is also available for purchase.
