“… From 1880 to 1939 there was a regular steamboat connection on the Amper between Stegen am Ammersee and Grafrath. Day trippers from Munich took the train to Grafrath and walked about 1.5 km from the train station to the landing stage. There they then boarded the boat to Stegen, where there was the opportunity to switch to the Ammersee steamships. The ship Maria Therese opened the shipping line on May 10, 1880. It was popularly called "the Mooskuh" because the signal sounded like the terrible sounding call of the bittern and because the route leads through the Ampermoos.
