In 1908, the cooperative mill was built in Stemmen. Claus Eckhoff from Brauel was hired as master miller. The mill's two grinding gears were powered by a diesel engine (suction gas engine) and a sawmill with a horizontal sawmill was also powered by a transmission. Here, the farmers' wood was sawn into boards and beams. After the Second World War, between the end of the 1940s and the beginning of the 1950s, the mill switched to electricity.
