The Fliegerberg is a historically significant site in the Ruhr Area, once used as a gliding runway and today boasts a natural setting and expansive views. The former glider runway is now a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers.
Originally, the Fliegerberg served the gliding club as a training and competition area. The slightly elevated location offered optimal wind conditions and an open, spacious area ideal for gliding activities. However, the runway was closed over time, and the area was converted into a natural recreation area.
