Eschefelder Teiche is a nature reserve with several small ponds in the village of Frohburg, which can be accessed separately from each other. It is located in the south of the district of Saxony near Leipzig. The ponds were artificially created in the 18th century for fish farming.

Medieval ponds (first documented mention in 1457) on damming layers of clay in the loess area, which are used for fishing (carp) to preserve water bottles. Species-rich animal world (amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals). Waterfowl sanctuary (colony of black-headed gulls, four species of divers and much more). Off-trail, boating, swimming, camping and fishing are not permitted. However, a walk or a bike ride between the individual pond sections is a nice experience.

The European bird sanctuary and nature reserve Eschefelder Teiche is located in Frohburg, idyllically between fields and wooded areas. Well over 100 bird species live in the centuries-old landscape of 525 hectares. The ponds once created by monks and used for fishing are an important breeding and resting area for many, sometimes endangered, bird species. Record of observations in pond diaries since 1912. 1967 Designation as a nature reserve. Since 1996, nature lovers, young and old, have been meeting in the nature conservation station to exchange ideas and start out on nature discovery tours.
