The 'Stampkot' is an old river dune just outside the village center of Berlare.
The name 't Stampkot refers to the stamping of linseed in a mill that was implanted on the river dune.
Now this protected green oasis is a play paradise for young and old.History: Due to wind action within the large Meander of the Scheldt, a large continuous dune complex was built here 15,000 to 12,500 years ago, with heights reaching 10 to 20 metres. besides 't Stampkot, the Hoge Berg and the castle park in Berlare are the only fairly intact remains of this. they are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots in Berlare and are also home to a great diversity of species.
