The Bareldonk Chapel, one of the most beautiful chapels in the area, stands on a sand hill overlooking the lake. The chapel was on the site of the former Bareldonk estate (hence the name) and dates back to at least the beginning of the 14th century. Researchers found old floor tiles made of fired and glazed earthenware with typical Flemish motifs from that time. Under the choir they discovered graves in which the former owners of the estate are presumably buried. The chapel was rebuilt again and again and adapted to the respective style and taste of the time. A painting from the 18th century in the altarpiece depicting the Annunciation is worth seeing. You will also find colored wooden statues of St. Anthony, St. Roch, St. John and St. Eligius as well as a clothed wooden statue of Our Lady with Child, probably also from the 18th century.
