Shining Cliff Wood is an ancient woodland that was once a part of the Duffied Frith royal hunting forest. Today it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Hikers can enjoy the circular waymarked trail that visits a yew tree, named Betty Kenny Tree, that some say is 2,000 years old.

The cliff after which the wood is named is a low gritstone rockface. A hostel that was once owned by the Youth Hostels Association but is now a privately owned residential centre resides beneath the rockface.
