Archbishop Engelbert the I. decided in a dispute between the Knechtsteden Abbey and the Cologne monastery of St. Gereon to the possession of this explicitly designated as rich parish church, that she should now belong to St. Gereon. Numerous wervolle figures contains the interior. Madonna with child and a crucifixion group. St Amandus, St Hubertus, St Barbara and St Michael. The church is one of the Romanesque churches of Cologne. In the seventies, the color was restored after the medieval appearance.
From because of village church. St. Amandus was rebuilt in 1220 into a three-nave basilica.

St. Amandus is the Roman Catholic parish church of Cologne-Rheinkassel. It is a scaled-down copy of the St. Gereon Collegiate Church in Cologne.

After the church was partially destroyed in World War II, the damage was repaired by 1950. St. Amandus received a new painting in 1954. The towers flanking the chancel were completely demolished in 1972 and then renewed. The entire building was restored by 1980.
Preserved remnants of the historical paintwork indicate the coloration in white and pink that has been restored today.
