On August 31, 1990, 14-year-old student Christoph-Manuel Bramböck and a friend were out and about as a wall woodpecker in Berlin-Marienfelde, near Schichauweg. In this area, the wall consisted of concrete slabs attached horizontally one above the other - unlike in the center of Berlin. When he tried to knock off parts of the wall further up, one of the upper slabs came loose and killed the 14-year-old.

Since 2009, a memorial stele erected by the Berlin Wall Foundation has commemorated Christoph-Manuel Bramböck.
