The educational bee center on the Hohenstein is open on Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and in winter until 5 p.m. Guided tours and training courses are offered.
The center is run by the Ennepe-Ruhr district beekeepers' association. Over 80 percent of bee colonies in Germany are kept by hobby beekeepers.
