The Herrenholz is a local recreation area in the Witten-Annen district. It offers three marked hiking trails (A1, A2 and A3), which are maintained by the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV). These trails lead through the Herrenholz and the adjacent forest areas such as the Buchenholz. Popular entry points are car parks on Herdecker Strasse and Ardeystrasse.

Hiking

The Herrenholz is an extensive forest area between the Witten districts of "Annen" and "Auf dem Schnee" with well-developed, wide forest paths. These paths also invite you to take a long walk. With warmer temperatures and sun, it is nice and cool and shady. It doesn't always have to go over narrow forest paths. ;-)
