The waterfall in the Billtal valley is a worthwhile destination – scenically attractive and offering a very different experience depending on the route. It's easily accessible for almost everyone via the Pionierweg trail – ideal for a short break or as a stop on a longer tour. Those who want to explore the lower part of the waterfall have three options of varying difficulty:⚠️ Respect nature and animals
Two of the three trails lead through overgrown sections, some of which are refuges for wild animals. Please only use them if necessary and respect the flora and fauna.1. Easy, but via a private road
From the lower Pionierweg parking lot, head towards Ruppertshain, then take the next right turn off Ölmühlweg. Then continue straight through the Billtal valley, past the residents' houses, to the waterfall (and, if you wish, to Stoltze-Plätzi).Caution: Private road, officially prohibited. A friendly inquiry to residents may help.2. Via the Hermin-Herr-Weg
From the parking lot at Viktoriaweg, follow trail 8 of the circular trails around Rettershof or the Hermin-Herr-Weg (on the other side of the valley). As soon as the waterfall is visible, after a gentle left turn on the valley side, you'll see a poorly maintained path leading down into the valley on the right.Caution: Lots of deadwood, not an official trail. Only suitable for experienced, sure-footed hikers.Leads to Stoltze-Plätzi, then back to the waterfall.3. Even wilder via a "forgotten" hiking trail
Instead of descending on option 2, continue towards the Naturfreundehaus Billtalhöhe.
Shortly before the campsite, turn right onto an old, overgrown path (the trail marker will still be visible on a tree on the left after a while). If you feel like you're on a logging trail, you're on the right track. The trail is also marked on the komoot map.The path follows the valley back to the waterfall, but is very rough. After a while, a trail along the Rombach stream becomes visible to Stoltze-Plätzi. From there, the path continues to the waterfall.

The lower part of the waterfall (seen from Billtalweg) is even more spectacular when it has a lot of water or is frozen. A few pictures show it from there. But since this is a private road, it is difficult to get there.
