The place name comes from the stream that flows through the Halberger Valley: the Halberger Bach. The settlement was probably built, like Auel, in the 12th / 13th centuries. Century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1426. Fifteen farms are said to have once stood there, but their inhabitants left the remote valley in the 19th century.

If you are coming here specifically to visit the farm café at the Halberg stud farm, you should call in advance, as it is not (always) open on Sundays.
Otherwise, Halberg is also worth a visit.
