The client for the construction was the company Laming & Sons, which moved into the building in 1892. It served as a margarine and cheese factory with an office, house and warehouse. After the bankruptcy of this company, it became the property of Hulstkamp & Zoon & Molijn from 1919 - 1972, which established a distillery for genever there. During the attack on Rotterdam in May 1940, this building was one of the first to be occupied by German soldiers. In 1979 the building became vacant. The Marine Museum was located there from 1980 to 1995.

Hiking
Recognizable and beautiful stately building with beautiful details such as bay windows and shields. It is tempting to look over the water here on the Maaskade but this building is really worth taking a closer look.
