Inside the chapel there are also numerous early Gothic frescoes, the oldest glass paintings in Tyrol and a larger-than-life crucifixion group. Above the entrance to the chapel, on the other hand, you can see the oldest preserved depiction of the Tyrolean eagle from the 13th century.
Renovations were only carried out in the castle in the 20th century. Finally, in 2003, the South Tyrolean Museum for Cultural and Regional History opened its doors. On 20 levels, it vividly describes the history of the state of Tyrol from its beginnings to the present day. Right next to the castle is also the "care center for bird fauna Castle Tyrol", which regularly offers flight demonstrations. And how can Castle Tirol be reached? From the village center (paid parking) the Schlossweg takes you through an old tunnel and past the earth pyramids of Dorf Tirol to the castle (30 minutes). Driving is prohibited on the way.
