Stations 9 and 10 of the "Geological Expedition" circular route - natural resources and sandstone quarries - deal with the natural resources of the Upper Palatinate. Iron ore was mined in the Amberg and Sulzbach area as early as the 14th century. For centuries, stones from the Elbart, Seugast and Freihung quarries were used in the mills in the area. Seugaster sandstone can still be seen clearly in the cemetery wall in Freihung.
