The castle is a national monument and is located in Boxmeer, North Brabant, close to the border with Germany and the province of Limburg. The castle has an eventful history. The fortress on the former island on the Maas was repeatedly besieged, destroyed and rebuilt for centuries.
In 1896, Julie Postel's sisters took the castle in Boxmeer into use as a hospital and later as a nursing home. Nowadays people in need of nursing live there.translated by
