ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This four-meter-high artwork, made of bronze, depicts two figures sitting on a lifeguard chair. The artwork weighs 570 kg and stands on a platform in Dir. Gen. Willemspark near the Zeedijk in Duinbergen. Dreaminess and curiosity define Aurora Cañero's sculptures. The use of the pedestal as a rhetorical element is particularly significant.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Aurora Cañero was born in Spain in 1940. The sculptor's mission in her rigorous works is to embody mystery and to give emotions an expressive channel with a blend of strangeness and a fine sense of humor.
