In 1889, Mayerling became the scene of the tragedy surrounding Crown Prince Rudolf. To this day it is not entirely clear how the matter happened. Later the emperor had a Carmelite monastery built on the site. Today there is a chapel where the bedroom with the tragedy happened. You can visit everything, it's worth it.
