The exterior of the church is very simple in its design, but inside you will find highly detailed 17th century Mannerist artwork, which is set off by the whitewashed walls. According to legend, St. Nantwein (Nantovinus) was on a pilgrimage to Rome and was passing through the village of Wolfratshausen. Here he was accused of having corrupted some young people and was burned at the stake in 1286.

The baroque church of St. Nantovinus was completed in 1624 and has long been a focal point for pilgrims hoping for healing. This is based on the legend of the pilgrim Nantovinus, whose remains were found during renovations in 1976. The former pilgrimage church is of art-historical importance because of its altar furnishings and its vaulted stucco, as it rarely shows a uniform picture of the transition from Mannerism to the beginning of the early Baroque.
