The Rödlaser mountain hut is located about 200 m uphill from the village of Rödlas. There is a large parking lot directly at the hut, which is mainly used by hikers. Numerous hiking trails start from here, such as the "Geological Expedition" circular route. It is about 300 m to the observation tower, and from the "hut" you can enjoy the wonderful view while eating or drinking coffee.

The region between Massenricht and Freihung is in the Upper Palatinate Bruchschollenland, which is criss-crossed by numerous geological faults and characterized by geological diversity. The nature trail in Massenricht starts at the parking lot at the Rödlaser mountain hut and runs over a length of 4.5 km. It was developed and installed in 2014 and 2015 as part of the "Geological Expedition - Upper Palatinate and Western Bohemia" project.
