The church owes its opulent baroque furnishings to its location on Via Sacra, the pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell. At first there was only one Marian column. Then a chapel was built and finally in the 18th century today's church.

The pilgrimage church of Our Lady of Hafnerberg, with its impressive twin-towered façade, can be seen from far away. The magnificent late Baroque furnishings are beautiful, especially the frescoes by Joseph Ignaz Mildorfer from 1744.
