The Schönbach Citizens' Association and Beautification Association has been maintaining and using the fruit trees in the district since 2005, as there was no longer a public auction of "apple spread". When an old wine press was found, in autumn 2008, under the simplest of conditions, a joint action by young and old Schönbachers began not only to harvest the apples, but also to press them and to produce apple juice and cider. The apple cider obtained in this way was given to the harvest workers at no cost for further use. Apple juice was made and stored using a heating process. This juice was offered inexpensively as a refreshing drink at all village festivals.
