In the Amöneburg nature reserve, extensive grazing with goats has been established since May 5th, 2008. This pilot project, sponsored by the city of Amöneburg, which is financially supported by the district and the state of Hesse, is intended to be able to preserve the rare historical cultural landscape with steep, sunny grassy slopes with as little motor-manual use as possible in the future. For this purpose, a fixed electric fence was erected as well as a cattle shelter. Information boards at the entrances to the paddocks are intended to inform walkers about the project and point out the necessary rules of conduct. The project is accompanied scientifically and is based on the written grazing concept of the planning office Neckermann and Achterholt.
