This place has so many names it's easy to get confused. At the beginning of the 19th century it was called "Köhler's peace". From the 1830s it was called "Spiegelslust", because Werner Freiherr von Spiegel zum Desenberg built a pavilion here, which soon became a popular destination. After some back and forth, a long search for a location and even longer discussions, today's tower was inaugurated in 1890 and has been called the "Kaiser Wilhelm Tower" ever since.

But what endures and does not change constantly is the magnificent view from up here: At the highest point in Marburg you have an enchanting view over the city and the surrounding area. And at the foot of the tower, the tower café invites you to coffee and cake. Wonderful - that's really worth a trip.

The Kaiser Wilhelm Tower (popularly known as the Spiegelslustturm) is a lookout tower on the Lahn Mountains, which are located near Marburg an der Lahn in the Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf. It was built from 1887 to 1890, is 36 m high and has 167 steps inside.

Long before the tower was built, the nearby restaurant “Spiegelslust” was a popular and much-visited excursion destination, which was particularly valued for its panoramic view over the city and Marburg Castle. For a long time the restaurant and the tower were run by the same owner; this contributed to the mixing of the names of both destinations.

From the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower you have a beautiful view over Marburg with a view of the Elisabeth Church and the Landgrafenschloss. The tower café serves delicious cakes.
