The small, idyllic forest chapel "Maria im Wald" is somewhat hidden near the Rothof horse pension. Several benches and tables invite you to take a peaceful break. In summer the chapel is well shielded all around because of the more or less thick vegetation and therefore cannot be seen from a distance.

Addendum to the history of the forest chapel:
The motivations for establishing this place of prayer varied.
For some it was a deep, religious feeling, for others it was
Thanks for the safe return from WWII or from the
Captivity. This is how Andreas Kröner and Kilian Krug
and Heinz Arend got together in 1965 to put their project to build the small chapel Maria im Wald "into practice. They were given the best possible support by Theo Auer, Hans Birklein, Ernst Felgenhauer and Heinz Schatz.
The Rothof farmer Ludwig Brahmann and his wife Rosa Maria provided their land for this place of reflection free of charge.
Spiritual counselor Josef Geist, the pastor of Bischberg at the time, who gave this
Plan supported from the beginning, the chapel consecrated on Sunday the 18th
June 1966, with the numerous participation of the Bischberger, Weipelsdorfer and
      Gaustadt population solemnly.
The extensive renovation in the course of 1983 went ahead
especially on the initiative of Anton Sperl.
For years, Bruno Kröner and Werner Trager have tried to achieve this
To maintain and repair the place of prayer on the edge of the Michelsberg Forest
      hold.

Super nice and quiet place with a few benches, which is in the semi-shade in the early afternoon. My hiking trail continued, somewhat hidden, to the right behind it. Unfortunately, there is no rubbish bin if you stop there. :)
