The legend says that sailors came across the Donaumandl by chance and immediately ducked their heads out of fear. For this reason, the Donaumandl only saw its feet, which gave rise to the following saying:

In 2005, Ernst Adelsberger was commissioned to place the Donaumandl as a three-dimensional advertising figure on the Danube.
