The Deichmühle is located at the old Norder harbor and is the landmark of the city. The listed mill owes its name to its location, the former harbor dike.
Already in the 13th century was probably at the same mill place a so-called post windmill. However, this was, according to written sources, destroyed and then rebuilt in the 16th century by Count Edzard II.
