A lovely area of sandy heathland that is an excellent place to spot native birdlife, such as the nightjar and Dartford warbler.

It is also inhabited by the vanishingly rare field cricket. Ecologists realised that there were only 100 left in England at one point, before targeted breeding and careful reintroduction took place. On a summer's evening, their chirruping song is a welcome sound.
