At the turn of the century, the rock formation you can see was the former knocking facility of the earlier basalt quarry. In the 19th century there were several quarries or places with basalt deposits, from which the city of Amöneburg sold basalt stones for roads and house building or boundary stones. An old cart and a bench to linger are on site.
