Hiking

The biosphere reserve 'Elbtalaue' with extensive meadows, pastures, floodplain forests and forests is a true feel-good habitat for flora and fauna. For white storks, e.g. nesting in almost every village or cranes nesting in remote wet meadows. Even the beaver, almost extinct decades ago, is back. Thousands of Nordic geese and swans use the Elbe in the winter months as a resting and feeding area.

Cycling

Nice area for walks or to take pictures. I always enjoy traveling there, mostly by bike and my photo equipment. There are also many species of birds to be seen on the Elbe. In addition to songbirds, you can also observe sea eagles, cranes, gray and great egrets, red and black kites, buzzards, etc. At night you can also take pictures of the starry sky in the area. Since there are no large cities nearby, light pollution in the area is very low.
